In the early days of McKinney, the end
of September was a time to rejoice and celebrate the havesting of the seasons's crops. For
generations the towns people would gather to celebrate the coming of this time of the year
and to recognize the efforts of the local farmers.
The Downtown McKinney Association sponsors an annual event celebrating
harvest time known as "Harvestfest". The Historic Downtown Square, the setting
for the event, is adorned with scarecrows and pumpkins and the streets are lined with
vendors and entertainers. |
